So, on Saturday, I'm in Wal-Mart getting food (yes, men do grocery shop!), and I'm just in one of those moods. I was singing "Take A Look Around" by the Temptations (an excerpt of which is in the Pusher Man post) all day. I get to the checkout lines (which are TOO long in this post-Katrina era. Leave the damn Wal-Marts open!!) and I'm just singing to myself. I finally get close enough to the front to put my stuff on the conveyor belt and a woman in about her 50's said "you have a very nice voice." I smiled and told her thank you, but I was taken aback. I've been told that I sound decent by people I know, but never by a total stranger. I tried not to get caught up in the moment, but the song kinda came out deeper and with more soul, now that I had an audience (didn't do any Paul Williams steps, though). What a treasured blessing it is to sing. Very relaxing and constructive behavior. So, as long as there is breath in my body, I shall sing. Period.
