I have achieved two milestones today. In addition to finishing my album, I finished reading Triksta today. As I expected, I loved it and it gives me a newfound heartbeat into getting the musical culture in New Orleans up and lively again. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the New Orleans rap culture or who just enjoys a good read about music. The other milestone is that after days of shifty undertakings, I finally got in contact with the author. We spoke for about 10 minutes, getting to know one another and betting on the future of New Orleans rap and bounce and the city's rebuilding efforts. We concluded our talk by exchanging numbers, and he told me he would be in town for Mardi Gras. I hope we'll be able to have a sit-down and chat (I'm sure we will). This is a great way to end a great week. I'm gonna be getting off from work in a bit, and my weekend will start. I'm gonna head over to another man's studio tomorrow to learn recording techniques, and of course, Kenny's that night. AJ is said to be in town this weekend, so I'm definitely making that a point. Yep, this is gonna be a good time for the books. I want to thank Mista Triksta for your wonderful book and your wonderful insight. If, down the line, you are linked to my blog, make yourself at home and don't be a stranger.
