Precious, Precious

The children flock to you as a godmother, guiding light
Seeing the God in you, they depend upon you for support
You feel abandoned, as if the world's issues are yours
You foresee the end of your career and fleeting husbands
Believing you have found The One, you hope he will stay
Your shoulders heavy from the weight others place on you
The stress, the duress, the pains of excessive burdens
Seeing it as coming at your expense, you plead for rest
Your weary soul calling out for the sweetest of relief
Lost and in search of answers, you see a light in the sky
Pushing you forward when things look their bleakest
A voice saying it will be alright, rocking you tenderly
And you find comfort in its guiding and healing glow
For it is the light of God leading you to your blessings
And you see now that you never are and never will be alone
For both God and I remain by your side in spirit, smiling
Precious, precious, you are cherished beyond measure
