I Did It My Way

Well, it's been a WONDERFUL weekend thus far.

Friday:

I got my car back as you all know. It felt so good driving home myself. I came home, got in touch with some more music (cuz you know I'm making some today), and was vibin'. I got this burning urge to shoot some pool. I called my cousin I usually shoot pool with. I bought some cues that I had been dying to break in. Around 10:30, he called me and told me to meet him at the spot. I did, and we waited....and waited....and waited. Finally, we got a table and went at it.I pulled out my blue and gray titanium pool cue and wrecked shop (made me feel like I was in Minnesota). The final tally was around 5-3 (I couldn't catch a good break towards the middle).

We leave the pool hall and are going home to our separate areas. We're speeding off down the bridge, going about 80 and change. I get a call on my cell, so I naturally have to slow down to concentrate. My cousin flies down the freeway and a car pulls out from the onramp and blue strobe lights come on. I look at the car and it says "State Trooper". Imagine how fast I slowed down!! So, I ran a table AND avoided the hell of a STATE TROOPER ticket (those in Louisiana can attest to it being no joke).

Saturday:

I woke up with love on my mind, cuz I knew I had a block party to look forward to. I had people hyping up the area that it was in, saying it was one of the most dangerous areas in Jefferson Parish, but I found nothing to that effect. Pepsi helped me out with directions and although we made some misguided turns, I made it (thanx Pep!). As with most parties, it was kinda slow at first, but it got to be really nice. It had all the makings of a block party: a DJ, food, pictures, space walks, cars cruising, and open space. Seeing as it was my first block party, I was taking it all in. I met up with DJ Caponne, DJ Smurf, and DJ G-Money there and we kicked it for a while. Dude is really cool people. Then, I heard about ANOTHER DJ in Gretna, so I was out. I went there (which happened to be around Sizzle's house and I WAS NOT INFORMED!!), but it was dark and most of the crowd had dissipated. However, I did get to talk with the legendary DJ Jubilee. I stayed there for about 20 mins., but left on account of the juvies present.

That night, of course, was Kenny's that night. My face is definitely starting to resonate with people. I met up with Hexx and we talked music composition and editing, which was wonderful. I learned some new tips on learning to train your ear for certain frequencies. Kenny's was poppin' from the offest. Almost from the word go, I was greeted by the good stuff. I've got pictures, but.... mmm mmm mmm. It was a good night. There weren't alot of people in the DJ booth, which I was FINE with (gets CROWDED in there sometimes).

Then, something weird happened, where everybody went to the other room. It was crazy. Hexx started playing that OTHER stuff (the gangsta stuff) to bring people in. Soon, our room was like 97% guys, holding up cell phones and chanting. It was CRAZY to me. In the other room, it was pretty good, until THEY TOO started in with the Lil Wayne and what have you. So, BOTH rooms were on that hood tip. I put up with it for a while. Then, I had an opportunity to make some cake, so I did (wasn't security either). Then, they got back to bounce, but I was ready to do that: BOUNCE. I had been on my feet all day. I went to the other room and saw a bunch of people from the block party earlier that day. I see some people can't fight the force that is that beat. I left after chatting with one of them, and headed home. Got some good sleep, which brings me here. I'm about to head off to chuuuch. Y'all be good.
