The Payback

"Why did you spit on your first wife?"

This is what a heckler yelled at Senator George Allen during a campaign stop at Charlottesville. This is a weird thing to comprehend. The senator was doing his thing, normal as clockwork. Then, this dude comes up alongside him and asks this obscene ass question, and the Senator snapped and went off on him (PHYSICALLY). It was all on CNN and everything. No blood was shed, but the heckler was taken to the ground and would have been in line for a beating, had security not broken it up. I'm not sure how I feel about this, really.

On the one hand, this is a campaign, and your personal actions give light into your true nature. Your ways behind the scenes, when there is no camera to play for, no audience to preach to, say a lot about the "little you inside". With him being in a race for the United States Senate, I'm sure he couldn'tve thought someone wouldn'tve dug this up in an attempt to smear him into the losers column.

On the other hand, there are ways of doing things. Running up alongside somebody and asking a tabloid-ish question like that is QUITE out of order. HAVE SOME FRIGGIN' DECENCY!!! Not to excuse Sen. Allen's reaction, but I understand. OF COURSE, you know after it was broken up and people were pickin' this clown off the ground, he had that "WHAT DID I DO?!" look on his face. WHY IS IT THAT REPORTERS ALWAYS HAVE THAT LOOK WHEN THEY KNOW THEY CROSSED THE LINE AND GET CHECKED FOR IT?! I don't understand the media sometimes. They poke, prod, intrude, eavesdrop, and snoop, but when it catches up to them, the first thing they do is try to make you think they did nothing wrong, while painting the other guy out to be the bad guy. Well, this is ONE dude you ain't foolin'!

This has been jumpin' up and down on my brain since I saw it on CNN two days ago. Some people, I tell ya!!
