The Maze

This may be the most in-depth poem I have written to date. It's esoteric, yes, but it gets the point across...

My Love Is..., my lovely inspiration, my magic muse, my reason
My Aphrodite of Africa, you free me to be strong like Mandela
Because of my heart, you made me a color blind travelin' man
Knowing that no matter how long the trip, time is on my side
Because I know of the silky soul that's waiting to envelope me
Ain't it strange how the Lord works? You being part of His plan
Never missing a beat, He provided what I needed right on time
I asked God to send a laid back girl, He gave me a lady of magic
A Southern girl sacred and set apart, as I would see in time
You're not the same; with you, I know that this woman is a WOMAN
Proof of what blessings can come down when you-know-what goes up
Embracing your family, you have stayed true to your roots
Throughout the changing times, you realize that love is the key
Your beams of happiness carry me through days of a demanding public
Dealing with life until the golden time of day, when it's just us
Like coming home to your open arms, screaming out "WELCOME HOME"
Happy feelings of ecstatic euphoria overtaking me all night long
Filling me, from the twilight of midnight until the morning after
Even while I'm alone, you are there with me, because we are one
I can just look into my heart and feel that you're feeling for me
And in those moments, I say a prayer for you and I wish you well
I can't get over you and the things you do, I love you too much
You showed me it's all about working together when you love someone
With you as my sun, there's no need for me to look at California
Seeing me through my times of highs and lows, my joy and pain
Times when I need you to times when I want to feel I'm wanted
Times when it's like I'm running away and full of too many games
It doesn't stop you from reachin' down inside, perfect timin'
And in your own kind of way, you bring that smile to my face
The look in your eyes and songs of love invigorate me again
And before I know it, I'm back in stride again, soul intact
You know I don't wanna lose your love to somebody else's arms
But whenever love's on the run, we just change our ways
And make it through every time, because we can't stop the love
And before I let go of this poetic loveulated joyride, I must say
You showed me that love is the key, and for that, I wanna thank you
You're always there, and I cherish you like a song for my mother
I'll never let you down; we shall always be each other's crutch
And I pray that you continue to call on me as the days go by
Keeping your permanent residence in my heart's Metropolis
And I pray that a place in my heart becomes your sanctuary
Giving you the freedom to be all that you have been to me
My heart can't stop showing the world that I wanna be with you
I want to hold you when nobody knows what you feel inside
As Frank's Rap and Dee's Song implied, we need love to live
I just want you to know that I don't wanna lose your love
Oooh, that's the way it is, that's the way it is, alright...
