Reaching my eighteenth birthday made me a man
Being an African-American descendent made me a black man
Life-long Louisiana residency made me a Southern man
Abiding by Christian tenants made me a spiritual man
Having a close, loving bloodline made me a family man

My constant quest for knowledge made me a wise man
The old school music in my heart made me a soul man
Obtaining a college degree made me an educated man
Being an educated, black man made me a dangerous man
Possessing versatile talents made me a renaissance man

Extravagant physical features made me a beautiful man
Believing in God's design made me a confident man
Living on wisdom of the past made me a cautious man
Living by "I Will Not Lose" made me a successful man
Possessing a sparkling spirit made me a chosen man

My love and respect for women made me a ladies' man
Valuing a woman's mind before body made me a rare man
Being a love junkie made me a highly desired man
Standing firm for those I touch made me a revered man
The feeling I leave with them made me a memorable man

Living on the faith of the Father made me a calm man
Placing others in high esteem made me a caring man
Sculpting thought into poetics made me a creative man
My dedication to my grind made me a diligent man
Always being on the top of my game made me THE man

Being at the forefront of the world's warriors, though
Bringing light to this mortal coil one day at a time
Leading by example, head held high, inviting progress
And above all, being support as my brother's keeper
As both the captain of my fate and master of my soul
Being the best of all above made me an ALPHA MAN!!
