My quote to live by when I was in the 2000 AKA beautillion (Alpha Omega chapter, stand up!!!) was "there's nothing permanent but change." As I continue to go through the changes in various stages of life, I see this concept becoming truer by the day. Things I used to enjoy doing in high school like being on the phone with girls all day and just rabble-rousing in general just seems excessive now. I've also turned into a family-oriented man somehow. I woke up one day and was telling my good friend La-Ti-Da that I look at women as WOMEN and not just an adult female. I begin to see women future-wise and capitalizing on potential, instead of just some ass to grind on at the club. I see a job as a necessity. Not only is the money important, but as my dad always told me "a man MUST work and be a provider for himself and his family." As I do not have a wife and kinds right now, I only have myself to provide for. Just because it's only me does not mean I can be crazy and lazy about it. The top thing I hear people saying to me is "enjoy it while you can." I disagree with this sentiment. I believe that every stage in life is something to enjoy, just as different stages of love. It won't always be this fairy-tale infactuation where finishing each other's sentences is cute and funny. I believe it turns into more of a safety net and a soft place to fall and be comfortable. Same with life. Just because you are not allotted with 16 hours of free time does not mean that life is any less enjoyable. Staying busy gives you the chance to get to know others and to learn new things you may potentially enjoy. In a nutshell, do not fear change, for it is certain. Embrace the opportunities you have today to make tomorrow that much more comfortable.
