Okay, this time, I'm coming for the brothas. I've got a big pet peeve with a lot of cats today: hanging your head downward in social settings. What is up with that? I can't tell you how many times I've been in an elevator where a black man held his head normally until I get on, at which it falls, as if by second nature. I mean, this is not the 1860's, where is was next to illegal to look a white man in the face. I like to believe that we have come far as a race of human beings to the point that we ca be proud of who we are to where we can hold our head up high. Elder Danna Andrus (one of the best motivational speakers I've ever heard) said that when we hang our head down, we are focusing ourselves downward, paying attention to those unGodly things, but when we hold our head high towards the heavens, we focus on Him and His kingdom. I know we invest in fancy clothing, shoes, etc. and that's all fine and dandy to take a glance, but let's be proud and hold our heads high! It's 2006. A new year, new opportunities, new horizons. Let's get it right and start the revolution slowly. If you saw a $100 bill on the ground, would you pick it up or leave it? Once you pick that $100 bill up, don't you feel a bit happier for the gain you just received? We, as children of God, are worth FAR more than a $100, $1,000, or $1,000,000 bill. Knowing that, let's pick it up. Hold those heads HIGH and keep those smiles WIDE, because you never know who's picking up on it, and what they will do once they've been blessed by your presence.
