Triksta: Life and Death and New Orleans Rap
by Nik Cohn
To say this book is unorthodox is an understatement. It is written by a white guy born and bred in New York, yet he has a love for New Orleans' rap culture like no other. I've just begun reading it, but I'm already thoroughly enjoying it. He doesn't seem to be sugar-coating anything, which is always best. Long live New Orleans rap.
Brother Ray
by Ray Charles and David Ritz
Anybody that knows me well knows that I am a huge admirer of the life and music of Ray Charles. I happened upon this book in Borders while looking for Triksta. I saw it and just knew that I had to have it. I'm really looking forward to reading the book from the genius' point of view. Really looking forward to it.
These are the two books that I am ingrigued by. As I pick up more books, I will be posting them. If you all will excuse me, I am going to get some chapters in.
