You're So Vain

I was watching this special called "Beef", which discusses how various beefs within the hip-hop culture's icons started and played out. I looked and listened and saw that the selfishness of human nature. Often times, we will see or hear some minute coincidence and believe something is directed solely at us. A "Killing Me Softly" in societal form. Seeing one sentence or hearing about one vague situation leads us to associate ourself with the whole and sometimes act thoughtlessly over it. Like Junie B. says, "that's how mess get started." People go off on a tangent based on assumptions and pieces of coincidental fact in order to facilitate their belief that the world stopped to revolve around them for a second. Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" should be the official beef theme song, because a lot of artists will hear one line that vaguely represents who they are and "probably think the song is about them." Let's kill the assumptions and the private sleuthing. Let's wait for a name drop, a direct quote. Let's have mounting evidence before we react harshly.

...and don't doubt because this blog's definitely about you!

P.S. If you thought that line in the blog meant the whole blog entry was about you, you've proved my point.
