My job was about to send me out to Mississippi to do some work ona class out in the field. I would have been out there (northern Mississippi, he said) for the duration of next week, which woulda been fine with me. I talked with him again this morning, and he said I wouldn't be needed. I was a tad bit disappointed, but I'm cool with it.
Speaking of driving, my car is still in the shop, and has been since Thursday. I haven't had engine work done on it in....forever. It all started as an internal oil leak, which was causing the engine to smoke. THAT is not sexy, ladies and gentlemen. To make matters even worse, you could smell fumes (later diagnosed by Neo as carbon monoxide) coming into the vehicle if you put the windows down. I took it to one place, who told me to take it to another place, which was closed, so I found another place. In total, I've been looking to get Angel fixed for a little over 2 weeks. What was one bad gasket turned into 3 bad gaskets turned into a bad timing belt and water pump turned into all my seals needing fixture.
I told them to do it, because although it sounds like a lot and that the mechanic may be ripping me off, it's always better to be safe. I've experienced what it feels like to be broken down on the side of the interstate (on a bridge of all places), and it's better safe than sorry. I've got a wandering soul, so I've been told. I think I may celebrating by spending the weekend after I get the car fixed in Houston or something (I don't know why I keep pushing myself to go over there). I'm overdue for a trip.
They said it is SUPPOSED to be ready today, so please pray. This week without a vehicle and reliable bus service is a hard bear to fight. No car this weekend would put a SERIOUS monkey wrench in my plans, because most mechanics aren't open on the weekend, so if it's not done by tomorrow, I gotta wait until Monday, which would result in me possibily missing my usual Saturday night engagements (not to mention G-Money is supposed to be DJ'ing at a block party, which could end up being my first if I attend). I will keep you all updated on this situation. In the meantime, let us pray...
