Okay, I've come out to Houston for the sake of job-hunting. I've been out here for 2 days (should have been 5, but due to car repair, I was set back a bit.) and I haven't seen much opening up. Granted, the flood gates of employment opportunity don't leap out at you the first day, I was a bit underwhelmed by the response. I went to a Job Fair put together by this company called "Work Source", and I found out that they were looking for professional painters, cooks, bakers, hotel staff, construction workers, and Papa John's delivery people. Needless to say, not only did I think I was overqualified for these positions, but none of this is anythign that would require me to move to Houston to do. There's another job-fair tomorrow, but they're looking or people they can send to the Middle East to do something else unrelated to my field of concentration. So, here I am in Houston. I think I will leave either tomorrow or early Saturday, so that maybe I can make it back in town in time to vote. Moral of the stort: thoroughly research something before you dive head-first into it.
