What is it about people and being photophobic? I recently acquired Pops (short for Paparazzi, get it?), my digital camera. Prior to the acquisition of Pops, I didn't like the process of taking pictures, because I didn't like taking a picture, not knowing if it came out right, being forced to finish the roll, taking it to the photomat, dropping it off, waiting an hour, coming back, paying for the roll, only to find out that the picture might have had too much flash on it. THEN, for the ones you DO want to keep, you will have to either pay for extra prints or buy a scanner and scan to distribute (this was before the ability to order photo CD's of your roll) them to those you want to have a copy. So, now that I have a digital camera that eliminates all that, I'm taking pictures all the time with all my friends. Seeing as I will probably be leaving Lousiana as the chips fall, I want memories of my people, so I want to take pictures with them. I don't know what it is about taking pictures that makes them cringe and not wanna meet. Well, tough tomatoes. It's a phobia you have to get over. It's a guesture of friendliness and outreach. I do it because I regard you highly as a friend and would like to have a photographic momento of having met you. You know what, though? FINE. *shrugs*

Perhaps, it is not that some people have a phobia pertaining to having their picture taken. It could just simply be that they do not like taking pictures-no hidden pasts behind it, no nervous breakdowns from it, notta. For example, I do not like taking pictures at all, but will take them on occassions. At times, I tend to make excuses for not wanting to take them at a particular time just jokingly, but, end up taking them in the end-without incident. Just like you may have a thing for wanting to take pictures of others, others may have a thing for not wanting you to take their picture. To each, its own. However, some people take it personal. But, if you leave your memory to be based on a picture, what happens when the picture is destroyed? Does that mean the memory is destroyed also? As long as that memory is kept within yourself, no matter if you should forget, something down the line will trigger it-especially if that person is regarded highly as a friend. I'll always remember you and I don't have a picture of you; your image, your essence, your being is within my heart. As long as it beats, your close to me. That's just the way I look at it though and it's been 3.5 years??? Maybe 4.
