Goody Two-Shoes

Usually, the old school song blog titles (for those who were paying attention) is just an intro to the topic of the blog itself. Today, though, it is the topic of the blog. I was introduced to this song by Janice Barnett while looking for samples from 9th Wonder's Black Album Rejects instrumental album. I found it and listened to it and found a lot of myself in it.

The premise is this: a man is on his way home and runs into some of his male associates. They tell him about this "hip" party that's going on, and they ask him if he would like to join. He says yes he would and tells them about his girl Janice and how they are going to settle down. One of the guys then recalls Janice's refusal to drink and smoke, then his chum calls poor Janice a goody two-shoes because she doesn't. Then the song goes on with Janice talking about why they call her that.

It's a crude explanation of the song, I know, but give it a listen, and I'm sure you'll like it.
